Here's a great shot of a Snowy Plover family taken at the southern tip of Anclote.

Sending along a photo I took the night the lighthouse was first turned on after its restoration.

Photo taken at sunset about 30 minutes before the first lighting.

Not sure who the person is standing outside. Photo is enhanced for effect.

Unforgettable experience for all who were there that night.

We small group of board members and volunteers went out to the island on May 30, 2020, to help the Ranger replace some of the boards on the boardwalk. We were only out there a few hours but we got a lot accomplished! Thanks to all who came out to help.

Volunteers are always needed.

We need board members and volunteers for each of these events listed so we may be able to have and offer more events like this in the future.

Volunteers are needed for environmental work, membership drives, social media awareness and special events that bring information about our favorite island to the public.

Will you please consider donating a little of your time by joining us and help out our organization?

(If we do not have a volunteer application on file for you - you MUST fill one out and submit it before the day of the event.)

Email: for a volunteer form

To get to the island you'll need to come by boat (private or rental), canoe, kayak or other types of watercraft.

We do not have any tour boats bringing passengers to the island.

We will have Memorial Brick order forms, tee shirts, ornaments, and other items for sale.

We suggest you arrive as early as possible, but Please be there by 2:00 pm, as there may be a long waiting line

Anclote Key Lighthouse will be open to the public to climb. Come and see a piece of history and climb the lighthouse to see a spectacular view of Anclote Key State Park and the surrounding area. There's no cost to climbing the lighthouse but, donations are always welcome so that we can help the island and continue to put on events like this.

Always keeping the weather in mind, we suggest closed toe shoes, please bring water, sunscreen, bug spray, and whatever else you will need for the day.

Please join us!

We also meet from time-to-time out on Anclote Key to help the Ranger with volunteer projects.

The Friends of Anclote Key State Park & Lighthouse is volunteer organization that supports the park. It is a Citizens Support Organization (CSO) designated by the State of Florida and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP).

The Park

Anclote Key State Park is actually a chain of islands located in the Gulf of Mexico at the mouth of the Anclote River. It consists of Anclote Key, Three Rooker Island, and the North Sandbar. Anclote Key is 440-acre nature preserve. Three Rooker is a bird sanctuary.

Because these two areas are nature preserves, no dogs are allowed. The North Sandbar is small sandy spit where Fido is welcome.

For all of these areas you are encouraged to leave them as you found them. Take your trash with you and help us preserve these water wonderlands for future generations.
